‘Moon’ flask with barbotine-painted scene of a rustic windmill in a winter landscape, the reverse painted with three chrysanthemums.

Mark: Impressed SALOPIAN mark
Height: 270mm / 10.5in 
Date: c.1885

This is one of a pair of barbotine-painted flasks, the companion flask painted with a waterway scene by the same unnamed artist (see flask 2). 

A Craven Dunnill tile plaque in the Jackfield Tile Museum, Shropshire, has an identical waterway scene by the same artist, and is initialled WD. The artist has not been identified.
